At least if you buy antiques online you have a certain amount of assurance that they're genuine. Read this 'Sterling silver ring with 96pt. garnet and 8 hand set marcasites (no glue). The piece is circa late 1930’s. The ring is signed. More information can be provided about the company when the piece is purchased. The ring size is 7. It can be adjusted up or down 2 sizes at no charge with purchase. The photo does not show the beauty of the garnet.' from http://www.silverworksantiques.com/a...s/rings_page1/

Looks pretty genuine to me. Is it fair value for something from 1930? Is 1930 antiquity?

I would say not. These settings are very common, very contemporary and very "retail".

Stuff from that period would be 1) worn, 2) have different types of prongs, and 3) would look unlike what's available now.

I own a lot of that era and it doesn't look like that.

My mom borrowed a lot of it for her cruise. I inherited it from her mom, who bought a lot of big stones in costume settings. The Swarovski craze is a big part of that fad coming up again.

Clothes were so different back then. They used richer fabrics with more gloss and natural content and drape and luminosity.

Often a ring or bracelet or sautoir would have distinctive details in the setting. Off'classic carving would specifically be from this period to set off the simplicity of the dress or satin with the eye catching detail of a ring of pendant.

Witness the evolution of tiaras of this period to being reset from older settings or the Cartier and other vogue designers trend of designing tiaras and necklaces specifically divergent from the classic style.

The rings are nice but I cannot tell if it's antique.

antique. The term has been used collectively to designate classical Greek and Roman works of art, particularly sculptures; as an adjective to indicate an object, a period, or a style of ancient or early times; and as a noun, for objects of art, furniture, rugs, pottery, metalwork, costumes, jewelry, and household goods of early production and for old artifacts generally.

The rings are nice. Even if they are not antiques, I think it will still look beautiful.
