I was reading an article about upper ear piercing. It was saying that, should you happen to get an infection from an upper ear piercing, it would be harder to treat than a lobe piercing. The cartilage has a poor blood supply, so there is no easy pathway for medication to reach the infection site. If the infection is severe enough, treatment sometimes requires hospitalization, intravenous antibiotics and surgical removal of infected tissue. I guess thats why upper ear piercing doesn't seem to be as popular now as it was a few years back.

It's just not really worth it, it doesn't look any better and it is more fuss, so whats the point?

I saw a waitress in a restaurant that had her ears pierced going all the way up her ear. She must have had at least 3 hoops in her lobe, then she had 2 or 3 studs in the top part of her ear. That's just too much if you ask me.

Oh my. That really does sound serious but I can agree with it. The logic here is the fact there really isn't that much up there but people should take extreme care and do exactly what they're told as far as any time anything is pierced. A lot of people just don't follow the simple guidelines as regularly as they should and such things occur.

I agree with you here, but then again, I've never liked them because there isn't much dangly room. Only cool thing could probably be for something sexual like gently tugging on a ring at the top of an ear but I'm not sure. That'd scare me.

Yikes. I agree with you and when things like this (piercings) are too much, they definitely are too much. Either people have a few or they seem to really go extreme. Yuck.

Probably. I mean, there would be nerves there and different things so I would guess so, but I guess like wearing underwear or that you'd just forget that it's there? Ofcourse this would be different if it was an uncomfortable earring or something.

Oh dear, that would be very, very wierd... who would actually have a ring put in for that purpose..
