Is it possible to be allergic to earrings? I heard somebody in the store talking about how they couldn't wear certain earrings because of allergies.

If you look through the boards you'll see more information on this in the Gold Jewelry section. Apparently it's quite common to be allergic to jewelry, which isn't much fun!

I'm allergic to earrings. Luckily, it's not bad so I can wear them for about 5 or 6 hours at a time. And if I need to wear them for longer, I can buy some that are made for senstive ears specifically.

After a while the ear gets irritated/sensitive and you can even get a nickel allergy from it :eek:

It's not just nickel, anything causes the allergy except for the special ones, at least for me. I'm really not sure what it is though. I suppose it's just that the inside of my skin is terribly sensitive to most metals.

Maybe if you walked to a good jeweler he or she might be able to help you out. They may have had customers with similar problems and have some good advice. It is worth a try, it sucks to not be able to wear earrings!

Yes. Some people are actually allergic to some metals and things. Also, if the metal in an earring isn't something of pure mixture i.e. pure gold, then that can cause irritation etc. which could be seen as an allergy.

well every body have some limit, so for infection from earring , please refer

I have a friend who's allergic to her white gold earrings and not to her gold earrings. The funny thing is the white gold was really worth so much more than the gold earrings.:D
