Is it righteous that women should demand on engagement rings (during engagement, of course) before the wedding?

well, that depends. the girl should see first if the guy can still afford to buy her one. i mean, what if they are preparing for the wedding already? one should take into consideration the expenses they are and would be facing.

I don't think she should force one at all. She could subtly hint at it, obviously, but it's not necessary at all. It's greedy too, given as the man will have to spend thousands on it.

I would personally not have one, and then have a better wedding ring, rather than two shoddy ones.

No way! Actually, I've heard of people doing that. If a girl told me she needed an engagement ring... I'm outta there. She's probably a gold digger.

I wouldn't necessarily say that she's a gold digger. Maybe she just needs to feel like it's more "real". She might be a little insecure about the situation, and maybe she just needs some reassurance.
