Balance The 4 C's For The Best Diamond Deal
The 4 C's are "color" "carat" "clarity" and "Cut" In this case "Cut" does not refer to shape. The cut of a diamond refers to it's proportions and symmetry, or how "perfectly" or "imperfectly" the diamond is "cut" This is a very important factor as to how sparkly your diamond will be. A diamond that is "cut" too shallow or too deep, will lose light out of the bottom or the sides.
This will mean a loss of sparkle and most likely a diamond that is DULL. The clarity of a diamond is also important. You can actually go down to an SI1 clarity diamond and still have a diamond that is "eye clean" This means that it has inclusions (or imperfections) but you will not be able to see them unless you look at the diamond under 10X magnification. If you are working with a limited budget or just want a bigger diamond for less money, definately consider an SI1 clarity diamond. There is no reason to pay for a higher grade if you won't even be able to see the difference anyway. And her diamond will look just as beautiful to her friends as any other higher clarity grade diamond. As far as the "durability of a diamond." A diamonds durability is not compromised until you get down to the very lowest grades, well below SI1 clarity, so don't worry about that. The color of a diamond is also important. The color chart starts with "D" A diamond with a color grade of "D" is the very best and the most rare. The more rare a diamond is, the more expensive it is. Although a diamond with this color grade is very beautiful, you will pay more for it. Consider a diamond in the color grades of "D,E,F,G,H,I" because you will be near colorless all the way through the "I" color grade, and you will have a hard time noticing any difference. But again you will save a lot of money. A diamond that has a "G" color grade and an "SI1" clarity grade is considered to be a very nice quality diamond and a diamond that offers the most bang for the buck!! You don't need to pay for more, unless you have the money to spare and you like the idea of knowing in your own mind that her diamond is better than her friends. Just be aware that it's very possible no-one will be able to tell.
Buying a diamond online will absolutely allow you the opportunity to save money. These companies don't have the overhead that a mall jewelry store has to pay for, and quite often work on very low mark-ups. Education is your number 1 defense against paying too much for a diamond and will allow you to buy the best diamond for your money. Always research your diamond engagement ring choices. It will definately pay off in the end. A very good source for diamond education can be found at *ttp://www.secretdiamond.com/info/the4cs.htm I hope that helps and I hope I did not break any rules for putting in that link, because it is a very helpful link
