Well, it is customary to get or recieve a ring for our engagement. Has anyone recieved a bracelet or a necklace perhaps for her engagement? Or does it have to be a ring?

Traditionally, men give their women rings for engagement. But I guess you can also do it differently, if the girl doesn't mind.

I agree. Men can also give a bracelet or a necklace, although I think a ring would still have the most effect.

i think that's because the ring is traditionally given to women...but the meaning would still be the same whatever you get or give...:D

I have never heard of giving anything other than a ring. I had no idea that some people have given bracelets or necklaces in place of an engagement ring. So would the woman just wear a wedding band and then have an engagement bracelet? Very interesting, no one I know has ever done this.

Well, if we want to break the tradition, we could always have something else.
