There is a place in Arkansas where you can actually dig for diamonds and yo get to keep whatever you find. I think it's somewhere close to Hot Springs. When my son first told me about this place, I didn't think you could really find anything substantial there, but the other day I heard that one woman found a diamond worth about $10,000. and she got to keep it!

I've seen this place, but we didn't have time to go there when we were in Arkansas. I think there is a very minimal fee to get in, but it's not much. We are going to go there the next time we go to Hot Springs.

Presumably the mine is no longer economical to mine commercially? Do they give you picks and shovels or must you take your own. This sounds like my kind of fun. Are there any other gems or minerals there?
