In high school, lots of couples exchanged class rings as sort of a promise ring type thing. I have friends that never got their class rings back so this probably wasn't the best plan. I did get mine back though. Did anyone else do this or was my school just weird?

Yup we did it in high school. Of course this was almost 20 years ago. One guy I was seeing his fingers were too big for my ring so he wore it around his neck on a chain and the chain wore through the ring. It must have sat in the same exact spot all the time. I did get it back but what good it is to me since I can no longer wear it.

This tradition really wasn't popular when I was in high school (I graduated in '94), but I know that my mother wore my father's class ring in the early '70's. My dad was a football player and his finger was so large that my mom had to wind a bunch of yarn around the ring so she could wear it!

Kyra, we used to wrap yarn around ours too. That is so funny that you say that. Sometimes we would change it depending on what we were wearing, or school colors or what color the stone was in the ring. It was a big deal too. God that brings back so many memories of my high school years.:) :)

A class ring (also known as a graduate, or grad, ring) is a ring worn by students and alumni to commemorate their graduation, generally for a high school, college, or university. These rings are most common in the United States. A school tie has a similar symbolism in the United Kingdom.

My husband gave me his class ring when we were first dating and I wrapped the band with yarn so it fit or I would wear it on a necklace. I can't remember how long I wore it. My son has it now. He thinks it is so cool. He is only 10.
