One thing that you should consider when buying a wedding band, is both the personal style of the future husband and wife. This is a joint effort, so both parties should agree. It is essential that both are comfortable with the rings that they choose, because they'd be wearing these rings for a lifetime.

Yes, I can't imagine a marriage where they didn't agree on the band, where only one of them chose it out! It should be representative of the couple, I love matching ones.

Unfortunately the cost factor also has a big influence.

Perhaps couples could "upgrade" their bands every ten years or so, when they could afford more. But then the sentimental value of the original rings would be lost, mmm.

My dh and I have matching wedding bands. He isn't much of a ring guy so he wanted something simple. The way my engagement ring sits I needed something that would fit under the crown and wouldn't rub up against it and wear it down. So we have simple plain gold bands, both are the same width. Simple but nice.

Well, just to be a bit controversial, they might not be wearing them for a lifetime if you get my drift. But I definitely agree with you here. My guy already knows I'd accept NOTHING but silver or platinum as a wedding band of any sort. :)

You'll need to do what they do to the girls necks in Ethiopia, stretch your fingers!

I think it's the way it should be, having matching bands. And the simpler the ring, the more solemn the meaning is. Well, that's just for me.
