My mother wants to get her wedding ring resized. How exactly is this done, and are there any consequences?

Normally you simply take it to a jeweler and they can do it for approximately $20. It's normally extremely easy, etc to do, so no worries, and it's likely nothing bad will come of it.

I have been told that sometimes it depends on the ring, some rings cannot be resized.

Depends on the material, but normally any jeweler can upsize (or downsize) a ring two or three sizes without any difficulty.

Just make sure you use a reputable jeweler so that there is no suspicion of anything funny going down.

From what I hear it's extremely easy. Never had to have it done myself, but I don't think it's a very difficult process and generally doesn't cost too much but ofcourse that'd depend entirely on what has to be done. I'd say just go to a jewelers and ask.

It is really easy to have a ring resized. I used to be a size 6, but when I got my engagement ring, it turned out that it was too large (I had lost weight). I took it to a jeweler and had it resized to a 5..it was a very quick process.

Is all in a days work for a good jewler, however nver get it done in a small, disreputable place, otherwsie you risk having your ring destroyed.

Yeah, be careful where you take your ring for resizing. You wouldn't want it's value to be "resized" too.

Yeah, if you think you are saving, you might end up wasting more money.
