How Much Would You Spend On An Engagement Ring?

I would like to hear stories from people who have bought diamond engagement rings and how much they paid. I have heard a lot of difference in prices for what seems to similiar quality and size diamonds.

i have yet to buy an engagement ring, i am here precisely for this reason. i am shopping around. i'm not even sure yet to what amount i'm ready to spend, if need be, i'll spend what it takes to make her happy and get her ring that she really likes.

Francesca, who is now my wife, wanted nothing more but a diamond ring for our engagement. and to be honest, i know nothing about diamonds or jewelry. these are just not my kind of stuff.
i got her a diamond solitaire for about $1000 if i remember correctly. she still wears it today and it still looks as good but we know absolutely nothing about the stone's qualities.

I'm not married yet but I'll spend around $1500 or a little more. Of course for a good and beautiful engagement ring which really worth the price. It would have been nice to have a picture of your engagement ring if you don't mind tourist
