The Rapaport Diamond Report is the monthly wholesale diamond price list used by dealers worldwide to keep up with changing market prices. Before buying from anyone, always ask to see the price listed on Rapaport for the size, shape, color and clarity of your diamond. Then compare to make sure you are buying at 10% or more less than that price.

Good advice Sudoku. Where does one get the latest Rapaport report? Should the jeweler have it? Another reason for not buying online I guess?

Does this only apply to diamonds?

The dealers should have the list available. You should ask them to see it before making a purchase. As far as I know, the list is only for diamonds.

I have tried to have a look at Rapaport Diamond Report, I got on this site ttp://www.rapaportdiamondreport.com/members/prices.asp but they say that you should register first!
If I knew about that before then I would have checked it all the time that I went to some jeweller! Its best to keep track of the prices so that people don not get to fool us!

It surely is a nice idea. I never give a thought about this.
The Rapaport Diamond Report, do they stay the same all the time or they are being updated? Did you check this out grandiose?
I think it's a good reason for avoiding online stores.
