well thanks for sharing all these, well i really didnt know about the 4 c's, but i think that this can be of great help to me in the future. well i thought of asking about the 4 c's but thanks to you chelsea, i've got what i've been wanting to know but one thing that i'll surely say is that jewellers are always wanting to get the best price for their products and you never know if it is worth the price you'll pay for. |

The cut of a diamond refers to it's proportions and symmetry. This means how well or how poorly a diamond is cut. When a diamond is "Cut" poorly, it will lose it's sparkle. That's because light will escape in undesirebale areas of the diamond, like out the bottom or the sides. The facets of a diamond act like tiny "light reflecting mirrors" When a diamond is "CUT" well, the light will bounce around inside the diamond and be reflected back up through the top of the diamond where you will see it in the form of "Sparkle" Cut is very important to a good looking diamond. You don't have to be a professional to see a diamond that has a good cut. If the diamond appears very dull and does not have that "FIRE" or "Sparkle" (or very little of it) when you flash it around under a light source, then you probably have a poorly "CUT" diamond. It's not really that hard. Don't be discouraged by the perceived complexity of it. If you are going to buy a diamond ring, even just a little education can go a long way!! Always do your homework when you are purchasing a diamond, it will help you save money and also get you a better looking diamond for your money. You could be talking about thousands of dollars!! |

LoOoOolll. I'm sure he got this on the net and he just copy and paste it here. I'm positive about that. I'll eat you if I'm wrong. I heard my father and his friend talking about the 4c's last time. His friend is a jeweler, a professional. I'll take some information about this and post it here

I always bought them without caring about all these and I actually it's the first time I heard about the 4c's .. so it means the cut. good.. but I heard that there were many cuts for diamond.. How come there are only 4c's? This name suits this forum well

I have read about 4 C's of diamond. But I don't know about its meanings at that time. Thanks for making it clear that 4C's are cut, clarity, carat, and color of a diamond. Last edited by laalparda : 11-04-2008 at 02:53 PM. |
